Oral Surgeon in Pittsburgh
Dr. Nicholas Barbosa was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from University of California Los Angeles in 2005 with a degree in Biology. Afterwards he moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he attended Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) from BU in 2010. While at BU the faculty recognized him for his scholarship and character was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society.
After dental school Dr. Barbosa completed one year of internship training in Oral Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Following his internship he attended Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he earned his medical degree (MD) in 2013. He then completed 2 years of residency training in General Surgery at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh. Dr. Barbosa completed his postdoctoral training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Allegheny Health Network in 2016, where he received comprehensive training in all aspects of the specialty.
Dr. Barbosa is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and was recognized as a Diplomate by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in March 2019. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as a member of the Pennsylvania society of oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Barbosa is trained in full-scope, Oral and Maxillofacial procedures and has clinical interests and expertise in Virtual surgical Planning, obstructive sleep apnea surgery, dental implants, facial trauma, wisdom teeth extraction, anesthesia, and craniofacial pathology.
Dr. Barbosa and his wife have made Pittsburgh their home. In his free time he enjoys hiking, camping, surfing, snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with his family.
